Goodbye Is Not Forever
âGuess who?â Adrian asked when Dorian answered the phone.
âWho the hell is this?â he asked.
âItâs Adrianâ
âI donât know any Adrian,â he responded, knowing full well he was lying. He knew very well who Adrian was and aside from Pebbles herself this was the last person he wanted to speak to.
âDonât play games man, you know who I am.â
Dorian stepped outside on the patio to avoid Mya from hearing the conversation.
âSo what if I do? What the fuck do you want and how did you get this number?â he hissed.
âCalm down, no need to get hostile. I donât want any trouble. I just need your help,â Adrian replied.
âMy help, I donât know anything. I done already had this conversation numerous times with the police. Iâve moved on with my life and put all this bullshit behind me. So Iâm going to ask you nicely, donât ever call me again.â
He was just about to hang up the phone when Adrian spoke,
âHow you sleeping at night dawg?â
âMan what the fuck you talking about? I told you I donât know shit.â
âIâm talking about you helping me catch Pebbles.â
Dorian let out a laugh so loud that he had to catch himself and lower his voice.
âYou must be smoking crack. If the feds havenât found that crazy muthafucka in all these years what makes you think I can help you? Better yet what makes you think that I want to help you? I have a new life and a beautiful family. Iâm not about to put that at risk to help you with some damn witch hunt. Goodbye!â
âDo it for Fallyn.â
âNigga what did you just say?â
âYou heard me... donât do it for me, do it for Fallyn.â
âDid you hear what I said? I have a family and Iâve moved on. I donât do the detective thing anymore.â
This nigga had truly lost his mind calling me about some bullshit, Dorian thought. And how the hell did he track me down?
âListen man, I know you have moved on but thatâs all the more reason you should want that monster off the streets. Fallynâs blood is calling out from the grave to be avenged.â
At this point Adrian was grasping at straws, trying to say anything he could to get Dorianâs help. It had been ten years since the murders had taken place and Pebbles was still at large. Whatever she was doing to elude the police was working. It was apparent that he was going to have to kick his efforts up a notch if he were to ever find his son.
âTo hell with Fallyn, she never cared about me,â Dorian stated bitterly. âIn the end she wanted you.â
âPlease at least just hear me out. You have your family. I donât have anyone. Thatâs my son out there with that nutcase. I know you donât owe me anything and Iâm sorry about the way the shit went with Fallyn, but I know you have got to want this bastard off the streets as bad as I do.
